Upon her post, she gained over a million likes on Weibo, and a lot of Chinese netizens admired her courage to call out the performance. They stood up for her and proceeded to criticize Lisa's stage for "promoting" the sexualization of women.
Although some reminded her that she should be careful as she's a public figure, many think she did well for using her voice to call out Crazy Horse.
On the flip side, international fans of Lisa did not let other people criticize the BLACKPINK member's hard work and effort. They went on to counterattack Xu Jiao.
Fans explained that rather than women's sexualization, the aim of the show was to instill women's freedom, confidence, and the right to make decisions for their own bodies.
Chinese fans of Lisa also counterattacked Xu Jiao after they dug the actress's photo where she was wearing a bikini as well. But surprisingly, when she received criticism in the past for it, the actress responded:
"It's 2023, is it abnormal for girls to wear swimsuits? I love my body, so why shouldn't I proudly show it to all?"
People then called her out for "blatant hypocrisy" and continued by asking the Chinese to stop minding Lisa's businesses.
BLACKPINK Lisa Sparks Concern of Women Commercialization Following Crazy Horse Stage
Unlike other stars who appeared on the show before, Lisa decided to become a member of the existing dancer and play the existing show's repertoire as it is.
However, it was known that she did not dance naked like other dancers and that she prepared a separate costume to take off her top.
Despite this, some K-pop fans expressed their regret and concern about Lisa's global influence. Since the show's focus from the beginning is on the "nude of a woman taking off her clothes," controversy over women's commercialization and sexualization arose, pointing out that it was a "strip show" rather than an art performance.
Lisa has yet to address this issue.
