Hyun Ah Snipes at ABYSS for 'Bullying' Urban Zakapa — Here's What Happened

Jo Hyun Ah, a member of the vocal group Urban Zakapa called out ABYSS for alleged mistreatment following a recent family photo.

In light of the Chuseok holiday, the ABYSS Company, home to Park Won, Sandara Park, Jukjae, Melomance, Sunmi and Bambam took their first family photo wearing hanbok to greet fans and netizens.

While a lot expressed their happiness seeing the photo, Urban Zakapa fans felt unpleasant not seeing the vocal group although they were also an artist under the company.

In particular, the trio signed with the label in 2016, and among the agency's artists, they hold much seniority as one of the first singers to join ABYSS.

As criticism poured in, ABYSS Company released an official statement, saying:

"Jo Hyun Ah's contract termination made it difficult for the entire Urban Zakapa to appear in the content, so it was produced without Kwon Soon Il and Park Yong In.

We sincerely apologize for any concern caused. In relation to this, we also delivered our apology to the artists with a detailed explanation."

However, Jo Hyun Ah showed displeasure, saying:

"Should I receive the apology just because they convey their intention to apologize? It's a little coercive. It's stressful."

Fans were more shocked when Hyun Ah implied that she wasn't even aware that her contract was already terminated.

"No one has answered. But based on the statement, I understand that my contract is terminated. I tried to honor my remaining contract, but it's been more than 600 days since we haven't been able to tour nationwide.

I sent you a demo of the album, but since you haven't released it for a long time, I wonder if you want to stop our activities as Urban Zakapa."

Hyun Ah then accused ABYSS of trying to ostracize the team and trying to stop them from making music. She hoped that despite her voicing out her displeasure to the company, they would still treat the remaining members as they originally agreed on their contracts.

Jo Hyun Ah 'Beef' With ABYSS — But Why Is Sunmi Being Mentioned?

Amid the conflict, netizens sparked a related discussion in online communities involving Hyun Ah and Sunmi.

Apparently, fans found out that Hyun Ah suddenly unfollowed Sunmi on her personal account. According to fans, the cause might be because Sunmi also posted the family photo without Urban Zakapa.

In fact, Hyun Ah left a comment "How..." with a crying emoji, expressing her frustration with what happened.

Although some pointed out that "unfollowing" Sunmi and partially blaming her was immature, other fans were on Hyun Ah's side, especially stating that she might have felt betrayed and bullied for it.

In particular, it was also revealed that Sunmi joined ABYSS after Hyun Ah introduced her to the company, and it's a bit insensitive to post the photo knowing that her friend wasn't there with them due to conflicts.
