NewJeans' Agency ADOR Clarifies Controversies of Its Idol Management

On November 22, ADOR released a statement that addressed the issues regarding Hanni's "denied" Korean lessons and Hyein's educational background.

Earlier on November 21, Hanni interacted with fandom Bunnies through a livestream, where the idol mentioned that she had requested more Korean language classes from the company.

However, Hanni added the agency told her that she didn't need more lessons and that her last lecture was two years ago. This sparked attention across the K-pop community, who called out ADOR for having allegedly rejected Hanni the necessary rights for educational access.

On November 22, Hanni messaged fans on platform Phoning, stating that a misunderstanding had occurred and clarified that her request for Korean language classes didn't reach the label or CEO.

Hanni messaged the following:

"I think there was a misunderstanding yesterday. A year ago, I mentioned wanting to start doing Korean classes again to my manager who had left the company, and she answered lightly on the spot, so I took it as a joke and found it funny."

"I also wanted to share a funny story with you, but I don't think it was conveyed the way I thought. The conversation hasn't reached my label or CEO, so I'm sorry to everyone."

"The way it escalated due to the things I mentioned yesterday was never my intention. I hope there is no misunderstanding, so don't worry."

Additionally, ADOR also addressed the concerns regarding Hyein's homeschooling and denied having her teeth laminated.

Read the agency's full statement below:

"Regarding the education of the members, ADOR has been hiring instructors and holding classes based on every member's needs. We have always done this, and even now, we had a separate language lass for Hanni. This also involves lessons for Korean language.

The agency has never made decisions arbitrarily since academics and basic privacy-related matters are essential for our artists.

Hyein's choice to take the school equivalency exam and go under homeschooling was fully made by her parents. We are also declaring that the rumor of Hyein's teeth having been laminated is entirely false.

Even before joining ADOR as a trainee, Hyein had started the dental program with consent from her parents. The program also planned to improve dental alignment, while preserving her existing teeth, and this is different from being dentally laminated.

It is ADOR's important responsibility to support any decision made by the members, as the agency will continue to support the NewJeans members and fulfill its responsibilities with eagerness and honesty.

Therefore, for the sake of the members, we are sincerely asking you to refrain from reckless speculation and exaggerated interpretation of matters that are privacy-related.

Thank you."
