On December 9, Red Velvet Wendy lent her golden voice for a collaborative performance for the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Christmas Festival held at COEX mall.

The K-pop vocalist performed "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," "My Grown Up Christmas List," and a song from her solo debut album, "When This Rain Stops."

Amid fans' and viewers' praises for her healing singing skills, Wendy also attracted attention once her videos circulated online.

Both Korean and international fans focused on her appearance, which allegedly looked different than usual.

With this, Wendy was speculated to have had surgery, especially on her nose, eyes and chin. Some people even expressed regret about her "old face."

Some of the comments were:

• "Her face changed so much."
• "I didn't recognize her. Here I am thinking I clicked the wrong link."
• "I couldn't recognize her right away. She looks different since 'Chill Kill."
• "How many face-shaving procedures did she have?"
• "That's like her third face this year alone."
• "This is a whole new face."

As a response, ReVeluvs (Red Velvet fandom) immediately defended the idol and called out haters for being "too mean."

Fans explained that Wendy had surgeries before, but it was unfortunately due to the tragic SBS rehearsal stage accident in 2019. Wendy fell from a 2.5 (8.2 feet) meter-high platform.

At the time, she had to undergo reconstructive work due to broken cheeks, facial scars, fractured pelvis, and wrist injuries. It took about two years before she was able to heal and go back to Red Velvet.

Shutting down plastic surgery accusations, the fandom then implied that there were actually no major changes in Wendy's face, which can be attested by fans who have been supporting her since Day 1 since her debut in 2014.

Fans claimed that Wendy has always been beautiful and if anything, her appearance probably feels "different" because of her new hairstyle.

Contrary to her short hair famously known as "Wendy Cut," the star started flaunting her long hair, starting when the group had their recent comeback with "Chill Kill."

 Her active supporters cheered on her and wrote:

• "What? I couldn't see any difference though. I'm not even aware of the accident. Regardless, she's still beautiful!"
• "What a doll. She's really beautiful."
• "I think her hairstyle contributed to that different vibe. She looks the same tho."
