Was the Drama 'Fake' Between K-Group and G-Group? Here's What 'Boys Planet' Contestant Ollie Shared in Livestream

During the first quarter of 2023, the K-pop community's anticipation was all set on Mnet's newest survival show "Boys Planet," which eventually formed the fifth-gen leader ZEROBASEONE.

On the Episode 1 of "Boys Planet," the teams competed by covering popular K-pop songs. One of the main highlights established was of Korean team K-Group and global team G-Group's fierce clash with NCT 127's "Kick It."

The episode's editing made it seem like both groups had chosen the same song and choreography randomly, which generated buzz among viewers.

Ollie Shares Abrupt Changes by Mnet in G-Group's Performance Song

However, on December 12, G-Group member Ollie drew attention for his claims regarding Mnet's sudden song changeup for his team.

According to Ollie, the similar song scenario shown in the episode was in fact not by chance. The trainee claimed that G-Group was initially given NCT Dream's "Beatbox" for their Star Level Test performance, which they practiced for almost three months before the competition.

Ollie then stated that Mnet had told them to change their performance song to NCT 127's "Kick It" a week before the show. This also led G-Group to memorize the performance in a short span of time due to the last-minute change. Read his full statement below:

"Our first performance in the Star Level test was not NCT's 'Kick It.' Initially, it was NCT Dream's 'Beatbox.'

At that time, we had been practicing 'Beatbox' for almost three months. Then a week before we prepared to go, we were told that we had to change our first stage song to 'Kick It.' It was so unfair since the Korean team already had 'Kick It' for a long time.

From the start, we were supposed to perform 'Beatbox' and the Korean team with 'Kick It.' But a week before the competition, they suddenly told us to change songs, that we needed to dance the same song 'Kick It' as them. I got really mad during that time."

On X (Twitter), fans expressed their frustration towards Mnet due to the drama devised in the program, alongside the obstacles G-Group had to face during their preparations.
