The "COUP D'ETAT" singer has officially left YG according to the agency's statement.

Earlier on December 18, Korean news outlets reported that the legendary icon received an acquittal in his drug-related case, which cleared him of allegations of illegal drug use.

This was followed by the statement of Galaxy Corporation on December 20, when the agency disclosed its plans for G-Dragon in the future and elaborated on the idol's drug-related case, alongside his acquittal. However, G-Dragon will not appear in the conference.

"In response to G-Dragon's acquittal on suspicion of drug use on the 18th, Galaxy Corporation plans to summarize and elaborate the incident and clarify its position on false reports from the police, the woman involved in this case, and malicious posts."

"We will explain G-Dragon's plans for 2024."

Along the way, Korean news outlet Sports Seoul shared that there was a possibility of G-Dragon renewing his exclusive contract with YG Entertainment, raising questions among the K-pop community. However, YG expressed that it was difficult to comment on the matter.

"It is difficult to comment on G-Dragon's return to YG Entertainment," the agency remarked.

YG Entertainment Releases Official Statement on G-Dragon's Departure

On the same day (December 20), YG Entertainment posted a notice on BIGBANG'S official website. According to the announcement, G-Dragon will now officially leave YG after 17 years. The agency also expressed support for G-Dragon's new beginning.

G-Dragon's Exclusive Contract with YG Entertainment Expires

On June 6, YG Entertainment released a statement addressing G-Dragon's contract status. According to sources, the idol's exclusive contract under YG has expired, but the company clarified its collaboration with G-Dragon in a separate contract for his extra solo activities.

"G-Dragon's exclusive contract with us has now expired, but we are cooperating with him through a separate contract for other activities such as advertisements."
