K-pop stans and Korean netizens are pondering the attendance of THESE two popular girl groups, alongside many artists.

Here's what happened.

NiziU, fromis_9 'Excluded' by K-pop Stans at 2023 SBS Gayo Daejeon

On December 25, the 2023 SBS Gayo Daejeon drew in many fans, who were treated to various performances and special stages from their favorite K-pop artists. The music event was held at the INSPIRE Arena, in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.

While many were happy with the appearances of the performer lineup, two particular girl groups became hot topics in an online community established by netizens. These two groups are none other than JYP Entertainment's Japanese girl group NiziU and fourth-gen leader fromis_9.

The post, titled, "I don't know why these two teams attended the Gayo Daejeon," caught the attention of Korean netizens and K-pop fans. According to the author's claim, it shared in the caption asking about NiziU and fromis_9's contribution this 2023 to make them attend the event.

"NiziU and fromis_9. I just don't understand what they did this year to be appearing all the time," OP remarked.

Netizens chimed in, insisting NiziU to stop attending special occasions and only focus on their activities in Japan. They also brought up fromis_9's vote rigging controversy in 2020, when allegations were made against the survival program "Idol School."
