During the interview, Sung Si Kyung mentioned that Changmin made his monumental debut at the young age of 15, and immediately became successful. To this, Sung Si Kyung said, "If I was your junior, I would look up to you as the most ideal idol."

After hearing this, Changmin revealed he gets mixed emotions over such statements. He said, "Personally, what makes feel a little bit happy but also a little bit annoyed is when my juniors say, 'I want to be like hyung.'"

He then Explained that when he heard juniors say this praise, he does not believe they genuinely like or respect him. "I feel that my juniors are just jealous of my current situation," he adds.

Changmin then dove deeper into how he made his debut in TVXQ. He told Sung Si Kyung,

"I joined SM Entertainment when I was 14 years old and debuted with TVXQ after just a year of training. To be honest, I didn't start doing this because I liked it. The casting staff approached me and suggested I audition. Although I did not much, I was attracted to the fact that they acknowledged me and recommended me. That is how it started and that is how I ended up where I am."

After hearing his story, Sung Si Kyung commented that TVXQ is a good example of how one thing can lead to a career. He then sympathized with juniors who look up at TVXQ, saying, "Seeing you continue your promotions and remain at the top probably inspires juniors to think, 'Wow, this is possible.'"

In particular, many were thrown off by the use of the word "annoying." It was noted that juniors were probably trying to be respectful and that their words came from a good place, so it is unfair that Changmin is talking badly about them online. Others believe he is overthinking his juniors' words and taking it too personally.

Some comments read,

  • "What a twisted way of thinking. His juniors are probably just trying to small talk with him, and yet he is talking behind their back."
  • "And in the future, none of his juniors will want to have small talk with him."
  • "I am sure his juniors have good intentions. What does he expect them to say when they are meeting a such a renowned senior?"

Others, however, sympathized with Changmin. It was noted that telling someone you are jealous of them is not necessarily praise and could actually rub people the wrong way.

Some internet users said,

  • "I can understand what he is trying to say."
  • "Even when not said to a celebrity, telling someone you are envious of them is not always praise."
  • "Don't people go around saying they are jealous of their seniors all the time? It's not like they always mean it in a good way."
