On December 27, netizens gathered in a thread and discussed each K-pop generation's representative boy and girl groups.

According to the post, OP added a caption, listing that second-gen had BIGBANG and Girls' Generation as its leading groups, followed by BTS and BLACKPINK in the third-gen.

"2nd gen: Bigbang/SNSD, 3rd gen: Bangtan/BP, 4th gen: Stray Kids/NewJeans." OP shared.

In the fourth generation, the author claimed that Stray Kids and NewJeans are the leading acts of this current era.

Stray Kids debuted on March 25, 2018, and was formed through the 2017 reality show of the same name. The group was initially a nine-membered act, but on October 28, 2019, former member Woojin left the team and JYP Entertainment due to personal reasons.

Through their career as one of the biggest boy groups in K-pop, Stray Kids has gained a solid fanbase and won their hearts with their self-produced music, chemistry, and live performances.

NewJeans debuted on July 22, 2022, when the quintet released the official music video for their debut single "Attention."

Afterwards, NewJeans went off to eventually become the leading fourth-gen girl group, as they were loved for their girl-next-door image, y2k fashion, and refreshing music.

The girl group has also won consecutive awards in just one year since their debut and has secured numerous firsts in the music charts, as well as gained momentum through their content, songs, and influence in social media, fueling their meteoric rise to stardom.
