In an online community, NCT Dream Renjun was called "ugly" after his recent appearance at year-end ceremonies. As a result, the idol's fans, Czennies immediately jumped to defend the male idol.

Earlier on Dec. 31st, a Pann user raised the concern about female idols being targeted for their faces, while male idols often get away with anything that they do.

In the post titled, "Is it right to criticize female idols for their faces?," the OP used NCT Dream's Renjun as an example and wrote:

"People like these are called first-tier male idols and innocent fairies, but IVE, aespa, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans get criticized for anything that they do."

When the article was uploaded, it only took hours for it to earn over 171k views and 643 recommendations. In the comment section, Renjun became the center of the criticism of web users with netizens agreeing that his "face card" declined.

As a response, NCTzens came running to rescue Renjun from netizens mocking his visuals.

As the post was initially asking why female idols are often criticized for visuals, the fandom expressed their disappointment since Renjun was mentioned when he was not at fault for the comments the girl groups were receiving.

Furthermore, Czennies pointed out that regardless the gender, netizens shouldn't make fun of other people's appearances and end up blaming them on other idols.
