12 K-pop Idols Who Were 'Forcefully Hated' in Community: IVE Jang Wonyoung, Red Velvet Yeri, BLACKPINK Jennie, More

In the K-pop community, the responses of netizens towards idols reflect the rift between love and hate, and unfortunately, the latter makes more noise most of the time.

While issues aren't unavoidable in K-pop, some idols are often caught by the short end of the stick because of these "controversies," which many loving fans of certain criticized artists deem as ridiculous and nonsensical.

Here are 12 K-pop artists who have received or are often receiving forced hate in the community!

1. IVE Jang Wonyoung

When it comes to forced hate, Wonyoung takes the cake due to numerous one-second instances pointed out by hateful individuals.

Wonyoung has been forcefully hated for absurd reasons such as the way she ate a strawberry, chicken, and pizza. This also includes haters claiming how much she stood out the most in IVE due to wardrobe choices, alongside "lazy dancing," flinching, walking fast, being cute, etc.

2. Red Velvet Yeri

Yeri's hate train goes way back since Red Velvet's rookie days, as the forced hate mostly comes from OT4 stans who love the group before her inclusion in 2015. However, one unforgettable occurrence still angers ReVeluvs and non-fans to this day.

In 2017, Yeri was scrutinized by hateful netizens for simply mourning her friend, the late Jonghyun of SHINee. The hate train contained people who harshly criticized her for appearing sad instead of being "professional."

3. BLACKPINK Jennie

All BLACKPINK members stand out on their own and that's a fact. However, Jennie received forced hate for "standing out too much" in the limelight, creating forums regarding her being the YG Princess, combined with her "It" girl factor, lazy dancing controversy, and many more.

4. MOMOLAND

MOMOLAND's rise to stardom isn't without its obstacles, as the group was criticized for having a "bad attitude."

In 2018, various clips of the girl group spread like wildfire, with many people claiming how the members laughed at Jimin's vocals, and that they didn't bow to BTS.

In a separate incident, netizens also claimed that MOMOLAND's youngest member Nancy was allegedly "side-eyeing" Jennie during a music show, generating a discussion regarding her personality and behavior.

Moreover, the group was also accused of plagiarism and sajaegi (term for chart manipulation).

5. BTS

As the biggest K-pop group in the world, BTS has encountered forced hate from bad apples in the K-pop community.

6. NewJeans Hanni

On August 23, 2023, Hanni caught the attention of K-pop fans and Japanese netizens for her tweet captioned, "our short trip to sushi land," alongside pictures of her and other members enjoying their time in Japan.

The caption quickly went viral among netters, who created a poll to determine whether "sushi land" was offensive or not, since the word was also a derogatory jargon for Japanese women.
