The case went viral in 2021 after Chinese influencer and student Du Meizhu accused Kris Wu of sexually assaulting her. Following an investigation, the police found sufficient evidence to arrest Kris Wu on July 31, 2021.

What Happened in Kris Wu's First Court Case?

In the first trial, which was held in November 2022, Kris Wu was sentenced to 13 years in prison. After he serves his sentence, he will be deported from China and will not be allowed back in the country for ten years.

Following this sentencing, Kris Wu's side filed an appeal, stating the ruling was too harsh and he did not deserve it.
