In online communities, aespa NingNing sparked a heated debate after a Chinese fan confessed the reason they decided to leave the fandom.

On January 24, a post in a Vietnamese Facebook community went viral, featuring aespa NingNing. The article comprised screenshots taken from China's Weibo, criticizing the idol.

In particular, the original article was written by a Chinese MY who left aespa's fandom after NingNing responded to a question from this certain supporter.

NingNing Fails to Recognize Fan After 12 Calls, Fan Decides to Leave Fandom

In the Weibo post, the Chinese fan vented their anger after what happened to be their "last" fan call with NingNing.

The OP stated that the reason they were leaving the fandom was due to the fact that the star failed to recognize them even after joining 12 fan calls.

In a video attached, the fan joined two fan calls with NingNing in one day and then asked if she could recognize them. NingNing agreed and replied that they met earlier and on the second call of the day.

However, the fan clarified it and revealed that they had already met each other on different occasions, NingNing then guessing that they had met 3 or four times before.

Unfortunately, the fan was disheartened that they had a call with the "Next Level" singer 12 times but she still failed to recognize them.

While it could be understandable that the star had hundreds of fan calls before, the Chinese My insisted that they spent a lot of money to buy her albums and apply for a fan call, which in total could even buy them an apartment.

As a result, the fan left the fandom and decided to stop supporting NingNing.

aespa NingNing Draws Divided Opinions for Not Recognizing Fan

When this story spread to various online communities, there were mixed reactions to the idol regarding what she did.

Initially, some MYs defended her, saying that she doesn't have to remember every single fan she's talking to and it could also be most likely that she didn't recognize the fan because of her eyesight problems.

"I can feel NingNing. I also can't remember people's faces except my family members and close friends. There are instances that I met people several times but I still couldn't remember even their names."

However, both Chinese netizens and foreign internet users sympathized with the fans and scolded NingNing for her attitude.

Fans stated that while it is already an effort for an idol to interact with their fans, the latter also do the hard work of earning money just to buy albums and enter fan call events.

Thus, the least that they could do was to be appreciative and remember the sincerity of the fans. After all, being in 12 calls was really expensive.

Regarding the claim that NingNing didn't recognize her because of her eyesight, fans stated that she could also still recognize her based on her name.

"Actually, I can understand because I also don't remember faces, but you should be aware that this is not only a matter of remembering faces but also a professional matter.

12 fan calls cost a lot of money and love. Even though they change, cover, or forget their face, their name might still have left an impression.

They spent a huge amount of money 12 times just to be hurt like this, but you guys are saying they are verbally abusing idols when in fact you couldn't understand people who put their hearts and soul into working hard to spend money on idols."
