On January 29, Cube Entertainment's girl group (G)I-DLE officially released their second full-length album, "2," along with the MV of their title song "Super Lady"!

In particular, this album was much-awaited by Neverlands (fandom) since the members participated in writing and producing both lyrics and the composition, proving their status as a "self-produced" team.

Prior to its release, there were initial concerns about the album, due to the sensationalism controversy they faced when they dropped the pre-release song, "Wife," on January 21st.

Even KBS had to ban their songs for their "too sexual" lyrics and messages. On top of everything, Minnie and Yuqi were temporarily put on a hiatus due to health concerns, raising doubts if the album would do well.

Thankfully, the title track, "Super Lady," earned rave reviews upon its release. K-pop fans reminisced the second-gen era for its electropop, hip-hop, and EDM sound.

But what impressed K-pop fans the most was the assumption that (G)I-DLE boldly referenced other girl groups' hit songs in the title track.

Some of the K-pop acts and songs mentioned were aespa's "Savage," IVE's "Baddie," LE SSERAFIM's "Fearless," TWICE's "Queen," 2NE1 CL's "Hello B!tches," EVERGLOW's "Slay," NewJeans' "Hype Boy," and more.

Not only the songs but even the outfits and beats were also said to remind K-pop fans of second-gen girl groups such as After School's "Let's Do It!," 2NE1's "I AM THE BEST," and T-ARA's "Sugar-Free."

Although (G)I-DLE and Cube Entertainment are yet to confirm this, K-pop fans are convinced that mentioning girl groups' hits was intentional.

Looking at the song lyrics, all titles were written in either capital letters or inside quotation marks, as if the quintet is really emphasizing those words.

As a result, K-pop fans can't help but convey their gratefulness to (G)I-DLE who have always been empowering women and a "girls' girl" group.

Some even claimed that the songs were particularly selected to subtly "diss" male-centered teams behind the aforementioned tracks.

Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE's second full-length album "2" released on January 29 tells stories revolving around the five members' unique way that even everyone can relate to.

Just as the number "5" becomes "2," the album was born with a hidden meaning, infinite energy of those who will show, and musical solidity, and is now ready to captivate K-pop fans around the world.
