Red Velvet Seulgi Confesses Hoping SM Entertainment Would Cast Her

On March 2, the latest episode of KBS 2TV's "Immortal Songs" aired. Titled "The New TVXQ of the 21st Century - Part 2," various artists, including the legendary TVXQ, ONF, ZEROBASEONE, JD1, KARD, La Poem, and Red Velvet—Irene & Seulgi, appeared.

On this day, La Poem's Park Ki Hoon confessed that he was street cast by SM Entertainment in the past.

He said, "I almost became label mates with TVXQ." He revealed the situation, saying, "It was when I was in the fifth grade of elementary school. There was a payphone in front of the school. While waiting for a friend there, a very cool person came and handed me a business card, saying, 'Are you interested in becoming a trainee or an idol?'"

Hearing this, Kim Joon Hyun replied in disbelief, "To you, Ki-hoon?" After hearing that Park Ki Hoom's height was similar to what he is now, he could see why he was street cast. Kim Joon Hyun said, "If you were about the same height as you are now in the fifth grade... Oh, perhaps it is possible," causing laughter.

After, Seulgi revealed that she was hoping that she would be cast by the label, saying, "I also secretly waited to be street cast."

She added, "I was trying hard to act cool, thinking that there might be people casting on the street or somewhere like this. But I didn't get cast by SM, so I went there myself."

It is well-known by fans that Seulgi is one of the few people who passed SM Entertainment's notorious Saturday public auditions. It is known that it is hard to pass such auditions, and only a handful were accepted as trainees through them.

In response, Lee Chan Won expressed his doubt on Park Ki Hoon's story, saying, "Even Seulgi had to audition herself. But you were cast through street casting?"

Kim Joon Hyun also expressed his disbelief, saying, "I wanted to believe until now, but I can't believe this. If that person had seen Park Ki Hoon's dancing sjukks, he might have been like, 'Oh, I see.'" The set burst into laughter at his words."

Red Velvet Seulgi Reveals TVXQ Are Father Figures to the Group

Meanwhile, Seulgi also revealed that she calls TVXQ "dad."

She said, "They are my seniors from the agency, but now we spend time together like brothers."

She revealed just how close they are, saying, "Instead of calling us 'youngsters,' they call us 'our daughters.' They take care of us like daughters, so instead of 'brother,' we call them 'dad.' Personally, I call them my dads."
