Zico Confirmed Taking Over 'The Seasons' as New Host After Lee Hyori

On March 25, JTBC reported that Zico would be replacing Lee Hyori as the new MC of KBS 2TV's "The Seasons."

Upon learning of the news, the show's production team confirmed the rotation, and shared that the final recording for "The Seasons: Red Carpet with Lee Hyori" would be on March 26.

"Zico will replace Lee Hyori and serve as the newest host of 'The Seasons,'" it stated. "Tomorrow (26th) is the last day of filming 'The Seasons: Red Carpet with Lee Hyori.'"

It continued, "The production team had hoped that there would be news about the new MC after filming, but it was unfortunate that it was known in advance."

Moreover, KBS revealed that the final episode will feature all the hosts of 'The Seasons.' It also shared that a three-week break period would be implemented for the production team to decide the show's concept details and schedule.

"We will discuss the concept and schedule in detail during the three-week reorganization," it added.

Earlier on the 8th, KBS announced that Lee Hyori's shift would end this March 2024. While her final episode would be filmed on March 26, its broadcast would be on March 29.

"The final episode of 'Red Carpet' marks the end of the fourth season, and we're preparing a special, never-before-seen arrangement," the team shared. "After the conclusion of 'Red Carpet,' we aim to continue the next season with a new MC."

As the title "The Seasons" suggests, a rotational concept among the MCs is implemented. The start of the show started way back in January 2023 with Jay Park. This was followed by Choi Jung Hoon for summer, AKMU for fall, and Lee Hyori for winter.

In other news, Zico appeared on the "Cultwo Show" alongside fourth-gen leader STAYC on August 4, 2022.

The episode immediately trended in an online community due to one specific moment. During the episode, an audience member asked STAYC via text message for any advice on becoming an idol.

STAYC's leader Sieun revealed that one must work hard. However, the MC also consulted Zico for his opinion. According to the soloist, one must be under the right agency to become successful.

In the comments, netizens agreed with Zico's opinion.

"Zico is right. No matter how much a group stands out, they can crumble anytime if not managed well by the right agency," one netizen commented. "I have seen so many teams experience that and it's just really sad."
