Lee Seung Chul Speaks Out About The 10 Songwriters He Believes Control K-Pop

Lee Seung Chul is speaking up and speaking out, once again.

Fresh off the heels of last week's controversy from his remarks on Twitter about female artists using sex to sell their music, the former Boohwal lead singer has a new target: K-pop songwriters.

"K-Pop these days has about 10 composers writing hundreds of songs for singers," Lee said on Tuesday on the television program "Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook."

The 46-year-old star called on his fellow K-pop artists to work with more songwriters that are still starting out.

"If singers who think the ideas of students majoring in practical music are good, start working with them," Lee said.

"K-Pop will become more colorful and richer."

The singer, who is also the judge of the television singing competition "Superstar K," appears to be practicing what he's preaching.

Lee's new record "My Love" released on June 18, includes two songs, "One Lazy Day and "I Need to Get On the Bus That Comes at 40," that were composed by students from the Anseong City technical college Dong-Ah Institute of Media and Arts.

"I hope many singers meet new composers and start working with them," said the star.

Lee, who kicked off a Korean tour on Saturday, currently has the number one song on the Billboard K-Pop Hot 100, with his new single, "My Love."

The title track off of his new album debuted last week at number 57.

On June 25, when Lee went on the aforementioned Twitter rant about artists that use sex to sell their music, many suspected his comments were directed at Kim Ye Rim's whose sexy teaser for the Lim Kim song "All Right," debuted earlier in the month.

"Naked legs, underwear teasers, optical illusion outfits?" Lee wrote. "It′s not right to promote like this."

The singer's comments forced a representative from the his record label Louis Entertainment to clarify that they weren't about Kim, but rather a general trend in the music industry, according to CJ E&M enewsWorld.

"Lee Seung Chul's company, Louis Entertainment, stated that Lee Seung Chul wasn't attacking Kim Ye Rim, but was more referring to the overall direction that the music industry is headed with girl group revealing more skin than ever," reporter Grace Danbi Hong wrote.
