Singer Ailee Performs On KBS's Music Bank Despite Injured Ankle [VIDEO]

They say the show must go on.

And that's exactly the philosophy that South Korean singer Ailee apparently holds.

Ailee injured her left ankle on Wednesday, leaving many fans to wonder if she would be able to appear in a scheduled performance on the Korean Broadcasting System program "Music Bank" on Friday to celebrate the release date of her new album "A's Doll House."

But a representative from the singer's record label YMC Entertainment told the South Korean publication Sports Chosun that Ailee was determined to perform.

"Ailee fell on July 10 and seriously injured her left ankle. She received treatment, but she is still experiencing pain. Yet, she showed a strong will to make her comeback, and she went on stage thinking of her fans who waited for her new album," the rep said.

"She will continue to receive treatment while continuing her album promotions."

The 24-year-old singer first burst onto the K-pop scene in February with her hit single "Heaven." The singer's first EP "Invitation" followed soon after.

According to reporter Lee Hi Ji of the publication TENASIA, Ailee is giving Lee Hyori a run for her money as the Beyonce of Korea.

"[Ailee] has been proving herself worthy of her nickname as Korea's Beyonce through KBS's idol star singing competition show 'Immortal Songs 2,'" Lee wrote on June 19.

The first single from Ailee's second album, "U&I", produced by hot upcoming producer Shinsadong Horangyim, is a high energy jazz-infused romp, complete with a full brass horn section.

Soompi reader Sweetlollies sympathizes with Ailee's predicament, being injured at this critical moment in her career.

"I hope she will get better soon," Sweetlollies wrote. "I really love the new song!"

Ljane Salibat Gunsi left a brief but undeniably accurate message for the singer.

"Oh, that's bad," he wrote. "Get well soon."
