It's been a week since the last chord was struck for FTISLAND's FTHX Sixth Anniversary Concert.  As the group wraps up their 'Thanks To' promotions this week, KpopStarz brings you the full transcript from their press conference held before their second concert day in Seoul.  You can listen to the full audio in Korean here.

MC Song Eun Yi: This is a press conference organized in the event of FTISLAND coming back after a whole year. They have been preparing for this comeback with everything they have. Including their new title song "Memory", all the songs in this album have all been written by FTISLAND members. They are receiving a lot of attention for being the first in Korea to fill up their album with songs that have all been written by the members. Within the past one year, FTISLAND performed in front of over 100,000 fans in Taiwan, China, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong in June and July. I am so proud of all the members of FTISLAND who have matured and grown so much and I'm not saying this because I am from the same entertainment company. They will be joining us soon and you will not be disappointed. FTISLAND held their concert yesterday for their 6th album. And today, they are scheduled to perform their 7th exclusive concert called "FTHX". Then tomorrow, they will fly off to Japan to begin their tour starting on October 1.

MC: You guys didn't agree on wearing black and not smiling a lot, did you?

FTISLAND (multiple members talking): (Laugh) No, it's just that this is our first press conference so we are not sure about what to expect and what to do.

MC: It is already your 6th anniversary and this is an event in its honor. How do you feel?

Lee Hong Ki: First, this album and this concert are very meaningful for us and our fans. So we took a lot of thought into creating the album and preparing for the concert. We wanted it to be like a gift for our fans.

MC: The special mini-album has been released on the 23rd.

Lee Hong Ki: Yes.

MC: You have expressed your gratitude towards your fans a lot in this album, right?

Hong Ki: Yes, there are songs that express our thanks for our fans and there are also songs that we've always wanted to do. This album contains a lot of different things.

MC: You performed yesterday. How was it?

Hongki: Everything was good except the fact that I made a mistake. The fans loved it.

Seunghyun: Hongki made a slight mistake out of nowhere.

MC: The exciting thing about a live show is that it can't always be perfect.

Hongki: The trick that I had to do was something that was basically impossible to do.

Jaejin: Hongki, please just accept it when she tries to wrap it up for you.

Hongki: Okay, okay.

MC: I was so surprised after hearing that all the songs have been written by the members. You will be performing a total of 22 songs during the concert. 11 of them have already been released in Japan, right? I heard that you have changed the lyrics to Korean. It must have been hard. How was it? Was it difficult? Why did you decide to change the lyrics into Korean?

Jaejin: To be honest, even until last year, we would only perform about 2 or 3 of our Japanese songs. In Japan, we perform a lot of the songs that we have written. We really wanted to translate the lyrics into Korean for the fans in Korea to show what we are doing in Japan. A lot of fans in Korea already know the songs that we released in Japan. This time, the stories in the songs have changed a bit.

MC: So in order to match the words with the melody, you had to change the story to have the song be more fitting for the Korean culture, right? Who wrote most of the lyrics?

Seunghyun: Hongki wrote a lot of the lyrics.

MC: So you are performing today and beginning your tour in Japan. Are you going to translate the Korean songs into Japanese for the performances?

Hong Ki: I think they must get confused a lot. They must have two different brains. We take a break tomorrow and then begin touring the day after.

MC: Are there any times when Korean words come out subconsciously?

Seunghyun: I did that during the summer concert. I was speaking Japanese but suddenly began to speak Korean.

Jaejin: Even when we speak on a regular basis, we get confused a lot. Sometimes we speak Korean to Japanese people and then sometimes speak Japanese to Korean people.

MC: Since you travel throughout Asia a lot, it must get very confusing. Now, do you have any suggestions on how the fans should watch the concert for maximum enjoyment?

Hongki: The biggest thing we focus on in our concerts is technical effects. To explain the theme of this concert, it is very upbeat and fast. Even if they are songs that they are hearing for the first time, we have created points where everybody can enjoy and jump with us. Fans just have to trust us and go along with us. There is also a break time. We will also be performing our famous songs that have been remade into more of rock songs. At the end, we will perform some ballad songs that we have wanted to do.

MC: Oh, will the ending be like a preview of FTISLAND's future?

Hong Ki: You guys just have to stare at us.

MC: So all they have to prepare is some water and towels, right?

Hongki: Towel is important

MC: Strong joints too, huh?

Hongki: Yes, shoes with air in them.

(Laugh)

MC: Yesterday, were you wearing "binyeo"? (the Korean traditional ornamental hairpin).

Hongki: It was actually created for the performance of Memory. It falls off very easily during the concert since we move a lot.

MC: Could you explain what the binyeo is?

Hongki: I grew out my hair a lot. The reason was because I wanted to wear a binyeo. So using my signature mascot I designed a binyeo. The first one I made was so heavy that it fell because it was silver. This time, somebody helped me make a new one that is much lighter. It is very meaningful to me.

MC: What about the other members?

Jaejin: After just talking about it at first, we wanted to pass but once we actually saw it, it wasn't bad. Nail art was the same, we thought it looked good because it's Lee Hong Ki.

MC: You are about to perform, are you nervous at all?

Hongki: I am nervous. On the second day, my voice is always not as good as the first day. I always get nervous about it.

MC: Is there something you do to calm your nerves?

Hongki: I talk a lot to relax my throat. I talk a lot and ease the tension. So it's kind of difficult when nothing fun happens before the performance.

MC: What about you, Jong Hoon?

Jong Hoon: Before the concert I always chew gum. I go on stage chewing the gum for the first few songs to calm my nerves. I don't have to sing so this is possible.

MC: I hope people don't get the wrong idea about your gum (laugh) it is for your nerves. What about you Seung Hyun?

Seung Hyun: When I get nervous, I try to relax my throat and go to the restroom. I drink water and then use mouthwash to go on stage with a fresh feeling.

MC: What about you Jae Jin?

Jae Jin: For me, I try to increase the tension by jumping or by eating something really sweet. Either water mixed with honey or candy. That way I can start really happily.

MC: Min Hwan, what about you?

Min Hwan: For me, my hands begin hurting after a while since I play the drums. I make sure to relax my hands a lot.

Hongki: Of all the advice we've gotten, our company president gave us the best advice. It is that we should brush our teeth before our performances. When we do, we get the fresh feeling and can continue through the concert with a good feeling.

MC: Now we will take some questions from the reporters.

Question: What do you think changed since the first concert after your debut? How much do you think you have grown?

Hongki: Our first concert was in the same year of our debut, I believe. We were very young to be honest and it was such a huge stage for us. The concert wasn't our creation. Everything was planned and worked on our image a lot but now, we are communicating a lot with our company to express our thoughts more and more through our concerts.

MC: They have matured a lot in terms of music. Is there another question?

Question: You mentioned that you incorporated your own thoughts. What kind of thoughts?

Hongki: Everything from stage and the effects. We try to add input in everything that goes into creating the stage. We attend all the meetings so that we can discuss what we want in terms of the effects and what we want the concert to be like. In the past, we didn't really have the chance to say what we wanted.

Question: You spoke about the songs that FTISLAND wants to do in the future. Could you explain in detail?

Hongki: That is actually something we have been worrying about for the past two years. Since we began with an image of "idol band" and we weren't doing the type of rock music that we've wanted to do. Since the image was so strong, it's not so easy to make the switch. We are slowly beginning to make songs that are both appealing to our fans as well as have them be more expressive of us. Our ending song however, will end with our debut song that has been recreated into our style. At this point in our career, we are still very interested in doing punk, hard rock so we changed the song to be that way.

Question: You have had a lot of experience and improved a lot in terms of performances. What are your thoughts on it? And were there any trouble or disagreements while discussing what each member wants while creating this new album?

Jaejin: Right now, I think we know how to connect with our fans in the crowd. We try really hard to become one with the crowd. Since we've started doing so, we think the fans began to enjoy our performance a lot more. And while we were writing the songs, there are times when we want different things. Sometimes we write our own songs or we work together. We just begin writing and then listen to all of them and decide on which songs are good. There are a lot of songs that express us as a band more but this time we have decided to go more ballad style.

MC: In the process, there was never a time where any of you used violence right? (Laugh)

Hongki: (laugh) to be honest, we have to respect each member and their songs. It's stupid to insist that their own song is the best. There are a lot of songs that have been taken out for future albums. We always give each other advice and suggest changes to make the songs better.

While this particular comeback is quite short, FTISLAND really made it meaningful, thinking of the fans and putting intricate detail in every single little thing, from their concert to the album concept.  It makes everyone wonder what is yet in store as they prepare for a full album release in November.
