2013’s Best Selling Album? SISTAR19’s ‘Gone Not Around Any Longer’

Mnet chose SISTAR and Busker Busker as having the most often heard songs and album this year.

The Smart Media Business Division at CJ E&M analyzed Mnet charts from January 1st to November 30th, for a total of 334 days. They created various charts from this data, including the combined streaming and download figures combined from 2013, artist's comprehensive rankings, Mnet chart's top 100 longest entry rankings, album rankings, highest streaming source rankings, and highest download rankings, for a total of 6 ranking charts. SISTAR19's Gone Not Around Any Longer placed number 1 on the general ranking, and Busker Busker placed number 1 on album rankings.

SISTAR19's album was the highest ranking streaming and download counts among Mnet users. SISTAR's Hyolyn and Boram make up SISTAR19. THey released their album Gone Not Around Any Longer in January, which quickly rose to the top and took the number 1 spot overall.

Baechigi's mini-album song "Shower of Tears" stood at 2nd place, and Leessang's "Tears" was 4th place, proving that hip-hop music was going strong in 2013.

Girl groups were also strong in 2013, and took up 5th through 8th place for a total of 5 spots with Davichi's "Turtle," Girl's Day's "Expect," 4MINUTE's "What's Your Name," and SISTAR's "Give It to Me."

Not only that, Roy Kim, despite being a rookie, was included in the top 10 with his debut song "Bom Bom Bom."

Busker Busker took ont he number 1 spot for artist rankings with their 2nd album songs such as "Love... At First," "Autumn Night," and "Too Much Regret." Their song from last Spring, titled "Cherry Blossom," despite being a year old, stood at the top of charts. For the second year Busker Busker has placed number 1 for artist rankings.

Akdong Musician, who gained popularity through the audition program "K-Pop Star" stood at 5th place, Huh Gak was ranked 3rd, G-Dragon was 8th, and K.Will ranked 10th place.

G-Dragon's 2nd album Coup D'etat, which was released after a 4 year haitus, contained songs such as "Crooked," "Black," and "Who You." He ranked 3rd for download and streaming counts for albums.

Dynamic Duo's 7th album and Baechigi's mini-album Part 2 took the 4th and 5th place, winning fame for hip-hop musicians. SISTAR's Give It to Me was 2nd and SISTAR19's Gone Not Around Any Longer was 10th.

This year's streaming ranking and overall ranking showed a similar pattern. SISTAR19's "Gone Not Around Any Longer," Baechigi's "Shower of Tears," and Huh Gak's Monodrama" took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Download rankings indicated that SISTAR19's "Gone Not Around Any Longer" as number 1 as well. Cho Yong Pil's "Bounce" was 7th, GIrls' Generation's "I Got a Boy" was 9th.

It's amazing that SISTAR19 was able to rank number 1 overall, beating out the numerous talented artists in 2013. What do you think? Did they deserve the win?
