YG To Debut New Sub Unit With Christmas Single

YG Entertainment will enter the Christmas music market with the debut of a new unit. YG Entertainment released a teaser photo that featured what appears to be two female hands intertwined. The letters B and H are prominently featured at the top of the teaser photo along with the title All I Want For Christmas Is You. YG Entertainment also released a teaser video that is bathed in a white color scheme and features two women. Could the upcoming duo be 2NE1'Bom and YG Entertainment solo artist Lee Hi?

Both Lee Hi and Park Bom have strong vocals which would lend themselves beautifully to either an original composition entitled All I Want For Christmas Is You or a cover of Mariah Carey's 1994 hit song. Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You is one of the best selling international Christmas songs of all time. Christmas in Korea is a very important time for couples and music which the dynamics of relationships are some of the most popular releases in Korean market. Regardless of whether this will be a cover of her single or an original, the song title is synonymous with Christmastime romance.

Traditionally, YG Entertainment has stayed away from the Christmas music market. During their early years, Big Bang performed Christmas stages on music chart programs. However, these stages featured covers of traditional songs. While there have been other YG Family projects, the label has stood apart from SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and the recent influx of other label-wide Christmas releases. As the countdown to the twelve days of Christmas begins, it is clear to see that YG Entertainment will shake up the music charts with this unexpected holiday release.
