Katherine Heigl Inks New Television Show With NBC; Former ‘Grey's Anatomy’ Star In Action Packed Series?

Katherine Heigl inked a new television show with NBC, titled "State of Affairs," after the network grabbed the rights to air the pilot following a bidding war. The former "Grey's Anatomy" star is set to play a spook in the upcoming series.

E! reported that aside from starring as the central character, Katherine Heigl will also executive produce the action-packed series. The show would be Heigl's first after a long hiatus when her stint with the hitmaker "Grey's Anatomy" ended in 2010.

According to UK's TV Wise, Katherine Heigl will play an attaché for the Central Intelligence Agency who troubleshoots compromising situations and provides advice to the president involving incidents that can have repercussions to the U.S.

The briefer said that aside from her high-stakes responsibilities, she is also dealing with "a complicated personal life."

Among the executive producers are Alexi Hawley, Sophie Watts, Julia Franz, Nancy Heigl, Joe Carnahan, and Rodney Faraon. The "State of Affairs" will be aired under Universal Television, Abisha Productions and Bob Simonds Company.

Katherine Hiegl saw her popularity shoot up from "Grey's Anatomy" and she managed to cross over to the big screen.

One of her more successful movies was "Knocked Up" by Judd Apatow opposite Seth Rogen. The movie was both a critical and box-office hit which grossed $148,734,225 in the North American sales compared to the budget of only $30 million.

When the 2008 film "27 Dresses" became a commercial success hitting $76,806,312 from a relatively small budget of $30 million, she was billed as the next America's sweetheart, Daily Mail reported.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Katherine Heigl has been having difficulty landing work after "Grey's Anatomy" because of her "diva" attitude.

In an article published September 12, 2013, a source told Hollywood Reporter that Katherine Heigl was not worth the $12 million she commands per project as she can be very difficult to work with.

"She can cost you time every single day of shooting. Wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day," the source told the tabloid.
