‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Isn’t Like James Bond, Chris Pine Says; Movie Hero Is A ‘Simple, Real, Monogamous’ Man

Jack Ryan isn't like James Bond, Chris Pine says. Chris Pine's new movie, "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," may seem like an American version of James Bond, but the actor says the CIA agent is very different from MI6's 007.

"It's not James Bond who's got the flash suits, the fast cars, the bevy of beautiful women and Q with all the fancy gadgets.

"This is a real man trying to figure out how to survive, trying to figure out how to save the woman of his life. He's very much like any one of us in a really extraordinary situation," Chris Pine said about Jack Ryan, created by novelist Tom Clancy, at the Los Angeles premiere of prequel film "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," The Independent reports.

"He's monogamous, simple, for all his complexity and intelligence," Pine added, Entertainmentwise.com reports.

Pine called Jack Ryan a "simple man, even though he's complex and intelligent," and someone " that you could pass him in the street and really not think twice or look back. He just so happens to be the man that's saving the world."

"He had a $10 haircut and that's the kind of guy," Pine explained.

Keira Knightley also stars in "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" as Jack's fiancee Cathy Muller. She described her experience of working with Kenneth Branagh, who is the director of the movie and appears in the film as the villain.

Knightley said of Branagh: "He's been a big hero of mine since I was a kid and I've never worked with an actor/director before, so I was really interested to see how exactly that worked.

"I still have no idea how he does it. The scenes between him and me, being directed and acting with the same person, was totally fascinating."

"Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" will hit theaters January 24.
