Hyoyeon And Sooyoung Of Girls' Generation Discuss Their Group's Goal Of Lasting As Long As Shinhwa

According to Kim Hyoyeon and Choi Sooyoung of superstar K-pop group Girls' Generation, there's one word that sums up the group's future goals--longevity.

In a radio interview on Tuesday with her Girls' Generation bandmates Choi Sooyoung and Im Yoona on the South Korean radio show "Two O'Clock Date," Hyoyeon laid out the other one word answer to what ideal the group aspires to--Shinhwa.

As K-pop's longest running group, Shinhwa has been together for 16 years and counting, an accomplishment that sounds pretty good to Hyoyeon.

"It's already been eight years since Girls' Generation started," she said.

"We get asked a lot if we wonder how long the band will last. We actually think about it a lot. It's been our goal for a while now, to become a long-lasting group like Shinhwa."

"I checked recently, and Shinhwa will celebrate their 16th anniversary as a band," Hyoyeon added. "For now, to stay together that long is our goal, and we believe it's possible."

Sooyoung agreed.

"Shinhwa doesn't release an album every year," she said.

"Even if they don't have an album coming out, they put on a concert for their fans, and I like that. We also want to release albums as much as we can, but when things get busy, we would like to at least put on concerts instead."

Hyoyeon also sounded off on having to reshoot the music video for "Mr.Mr," after the film production reportedly accidentally deleted the footage.

"We prepared since the early morning and danced all day to film," she said. "We filmed while gritting our teeth. It made sense that everyone was annoyed [at having to do the reshoot]."

Sooyoung claims she bore most of the burden for the reshoot, even though most of her footage didn't even make the final cut.

"I did most of the re-filming, but in the music video, none of the scenes really made it," she said.

Released on Feb. 28, the Girls' Generation music video for "Mr.Mr" has already received over 9.5 million YouTube views.
