X-Men Director Bryan Singer Claims Sexual Abuse Accusation Without Merit; ‘Days Of Future Past’ Release Affected By The Controversy?

"X-Men" director Bryan Singer has claimed that the sexual abuse leveled against him is without merit although the release of "X-Men Days of Future Past" might not be affected by this new controversy.

The statement by the "X-Men" director's lawyer, Marty Singer, said: "The claims made against Bryan Singer are completely without merit. We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated in this absurd and defamatory lawsuit."

The statement added that the case was an obvious attempt to get publicity with the impending release of "X-Men Days of Future Past" helmed by Bryan Singer.

Meanwhile, Fox studio also issued a statement regarding the rape case filed against the "X-Men" director which said: "These are serious allegations, and they will be resolved in the appropriate forum. This is a personal matter, which Bryan Singer and his representatives are addressing separately."

The controversy stemmed from the suit filed in Hawaii by Michael F. Egan III who claimed that he was raped by the "X-Men" director.

According to MailOnline, the lawsuit was filed in Hawaii because the statute of limitations in L.A. would expire by next week.

"I was raped numerous times in that house, by numerous individuals. You were like a piece of meat to these people," Egan said on Thursday.

The house in question was located in Encino, California and owned by Marc Collins-Rector and Chad Shackley. Marc Collins-Rector was a convicted sex offender who coerced children and teens with drugs and guns, according to Radar Online. In 2004, Collins-Rector pleaded guilty to eight counts of child entitlement.

According to the suit, "X-Men" director Bryan Singer forced him into oral and anal sex through threats or coerced him through various drugs such as cocaine, Ecstasy, Xanax, Vicodin and alcohol. Egan also said that he was promised a role in "X-Men" which didn't happen.

The initial release for "X-Men Days of Future Past" is scheduled on May 23, 2014. Fox has not announced any changes to that schedule yet.
