Looking at the most popular idol groups, not all members are treated equally. Some members appear more on variety shows, have their own solo albums, act more etc. Unfortunately, this means that some idols don't get their chance to shine in the limelight. But they are idols, even if they sometimes can't seem to compete even within their own group.

INFINITE's Sungyeol

 INFINITE has a strong fanbase and the members are well known, but Sungyeol's the only member in the group who doesn't have a real role. He doesn't have a unique voice, hasn't gained fame as an actor, nor does he dance or rap particularly well. Even the members of INFINITE have joked that Sungyeol's only purpose in the group is to be tall.

Sungyeol's most prominent position in INFINITE is probably the moodmaker of the group. He's always ridiculous and has earned the reputation of being like a choding, an elementary school student. Also, Sungyeol has a reputation as an actor.  L and Hoya may be the more prominent actors in INFINITE, but Sungyeol recently in the web drama Please, Remember Princess, showing his versatility as an actor by playing a nerd.

f(x)'s Luna

Luna's an all-kill idol who hasn't really gained the appropriate spotlight in comparison to the other f(x) group members who are well known international.  However, Luna is a lead vocalist, has acted in dramas and musicals, has hosted music shows, and appeared in variety shows, making her a threat to many other idols.

Not only is she a hard worker who tackles many projects, but she's also won awards for her singing and variety talent.

B.A.P's Himchan

The group has a lot of talent, but Himchan doesn't really stand out in any apparent way. He's not the best vocalist, not the best dancer, nor the best rapper. But he was a famous ulzzang (best face) in Korea, prior to his debut, and was trained in classical and traditional Korean music. Himchan also hosted MTV's The Show before debuting with B.A.P.

4MINUTE's Nam Jihyun

To be fair, just about all of the members of 4Minute belong on this list. HyunA is the most well known member of the group, but that doesn't mean that 4Minute's leader doesn't deserve the spotlight. Just like Sungyeol, Jihyun is an actor and the two starred in Please, Remember Princess. She's also appeared in several music videos and variety shows.

Nam Ji Hyun also stands out as an idol in an odd way: She's the so-called 'bare face queen,' who looks prettier without makeup than with it.
