Rory Mcllroy And Caroline Wozniacki Break Up Leads To Victory? Male Golfer Wins PGA Championship After Cancelling Wedding Plans

Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki break up might have pushed the male golfer to practice harder. Following his split from the 23-year-old Danish athlete, McIlroy has emerged as the winner of the European Tour's flagship sports event - the BMW PGA Championship held in Wentworth, England.

Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki wedding plans were first announced in December 2013. However, last Wednesday, the Northern Irishman admitted in a statement that he simply wasn't ready yet for all the things marriage entails.

Following his split from the tennis player, the 25-year-old said that playing golf might be difficult: "I'm not going to lie, it's going to be very difficult. I just want to dive straight into it and keep myself somewhat busy."

He must have channeled his negative feelings to executing swift moves on the European soil. "It's a roller-coaster. I'm not exactly sure how I'm feeling right now, to be honest," he said.

Meanwhile, Wozniacki expressed her need to move on from her split with her fiancée. After the announcement of Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki break up, the athletic beauty lost her first French Open match to Belgium's darling, Yanina Wickmayer.

Wozniacki admits that McIlroy's ending of their engagement "came as a bit of a shock". Nonetheless, she is not ready to divulge details about her previous relationship: "What happens in my personal life, I just want to really keep that between my closest people around me."

Aside from Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki's break up, the latter's knee injury also contributed to her loss. She says that she'll be strategizing as to how her knee can be completely prepared.

"I want to prepare for Wimbledon, which is a big tournament and a better surface for me," said the determined Wozniacki. Her next tournament will be at Eastbourne in June.
