Pokemon X And Y Movie Spoilers: Mega Stones Confirmed To Come From Diancie, Will It Affect Omega Ruby And Alpha Sapphire?

The Pokemon X and Y movie "Diancie & the Cocoon of Destruction" has opened in Japan, and spoilers regarding the plot have confirmed several major mythologies regarding the franchise.

If you haven't seen the Pokemon X and Y movie featuring Diancie and want to see a plot synopsis, Serebii has posted a brief summary of the movie here, with major spoilers.

As fans know, Pokemon X and Y introduced the concept of Mega Evolution, but very little is known about its origins or how it works.

However, the Pokemon X and Y movie has revealed that Diancie has the capability to produce diamonds, which turn into Mega Stones, if it is blessed with the Fairy Aura.

In the movie, Diancie pursues Xerneas to regain the Fairy Aura which has allowed it to produce diamonds. Upon gifting one to Bonnie, the mega symbol can be seen glowing inside of it.

The theory surrounding Diancie and its connection to Mega Evolution has been around for quite some time, but now we know it has the ability to produce Mega Stones.

However, it is unclear whether this means every Mega Stone for Mega Evolution come from Diancie.

For now, the major theory is that Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire will expand on the mythology surrounding Mega Evolution, especially since new Mega Evolutions will be introduced alongside Mega Diancie.

"It was revealed today that when players transfer Mythical Pokemon Diancie from Pokemon X or Pokemon Y into Pokemon Omega Ruby or Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, it can Mega Evolve in battle after obtaining its Mega Stone," says the official Pokemon Company press release from E3.

"When Diancie Mega Evolves into Mega Diancie, the impurities on its body’s surface fall away, and it sparkles so brilliantly it’s impossible to look directly at it. Mega Diancie can make good use of the Fairy-type move Dazzling Gleam, which deals great damage to your opponent by unleashing powerful beams of light. In Double Battle, the move will strike both of the opposing Pokémon."
