The Best OST Strategy Is To Release With Time Gaps?

Hit dramas must have hit songs as well?

Most dramas have been creating OST albums as well, releasing the songs with 1~2 week gaps in between each.

As the popularity of a drama increases and if a top singer sings the OST of that drama, then the song is bound to get 1st place on music charts. Recently, Davichi sang the OST for the SBS drama "It's Okay, It's Love" and ranked 1st place. On August 7, another OST of this drama, "Sleepless Night" by Crush, also ranked 1st place.

The same went for top dramas in the past such as "You Who Came From The Stars" and "The Moon That Embraces The Sun".

The reason OSTs are so powerful is that the drama controls when to expose the song and matches it with when the song is released. At the epic moment of a drama, they put in the song and raise the interest for that song and then release it. The song is used for scenes such as kiss scene, flashback scene, etc.

One representative said, "From the perspective of a drama producing company who is always in lack of funds for drama, they cannot disregard the profit they receive from OST. It's only logical that they use OSTs to their maximum capacity."
