Fans of K-Pop group Girls' Generation around the world unleashed a flood of sympathetic and supportive tweets for the girl group and member Jessica after the latter was confirmed to be withdrawing from team activities.

Tweets with the hashtag #StayStrongSNSD skyrocketed on September 30 shortly after SM Entertainment issued an official statement that Girls' Generation will be pushing on with group promotions without Jessica. Girls' Generation is better known as So Nyeo Shi Dae or SNSD in Korea.

At the time of publication, #StayStrongSNSD is the top trending hashtag on Earth, according to tracker site What the Trend.

"Thank You for all the happiness that you have done to my life," said Taeng Oppa (@OT9isMyLife) attaching #StayStrongSNSD plus another hot hashtag, #0T9forever, with the tweet.

Hashtags that specifically encourage Jessica have also been buzzing non-stop. #staystrongjessica peaked to more than 10,000 tweets per hour, according to another tracker site hashtags.org.  The same goes for the more polarizing #believeinjessica hashtag that partly alludes to conflicting sides to the withdrawal story.

Jessica first posted on her Weibo account that she was removed from the group against her will.

"I was excited about our upcoming fan events only to shockingly be informed by my company and 8 others that as of today, I'm no longer a member. I'm devastated - my priority and love is to serve as a member of GG, but for no justifiable reason, I am being forced out," read a post on the singer's Weibo account.

But the official SM Entertainment press release said that Jessica herself offered to stop promoting with the group. "This coming spring, due to her personal situation, she notified us she will halt her team promotions with the release of one [more] album," read a statement from the entertainment company.

"The agency had no choice but to pull up Girls' Generation's activities as 8 members earlier than planned, and in the midst of while working out when to announce this, Jessica had posted her words early this morning."

While it may take a while for the whole story to unfold, the #believeinjessica tweets are serving as a way for fans to send their love to the embattled member.

As one Girls' Generation fan (@kw0nsica) put it: "Jessica has 7 letters so does BELIEVE. Keep believe [sic] in her Sones #believeinjessica."
