YG Entertainment's Latest 'Who's Next?' Teaser Offers Several Tantalizing Options

A second teaser image has been revealed by YG Entertainment calling their followers to guess which of the company's artists will be the next to release new music.

On October 27, the record label posted their now all too common question "Who's Next?" to the YG Life blog and official social networking accounts. The image indicated November 11 as the release date for the mysterious comeback or debut.

Two days later a follow-up teaser was unveiled reading "1 + 1" and driving fans into a speculative swirl.

Who could it be? Let's weigh our options.

Option 1: PSY

The last time Psy dropped an album was in 2012 with Psy 6 (Six Rules), Part 1. The release contained the worldwide hit "Gangnam Style" and skyrocketed the Korean star to international fame. After months of promotions and the follow up single "Gentleman," Psy has repeatedly said he's been busy working on his seventh studio album, Psy 6 (Six Rules), Part 2.

In June he gave his fans a little taste in his "Hangover" collaboration with American rapper Snoop Dogg, but at nearly two and a half years since his last album, it's safe to say he's long overdue.

1 + 1?

Another big name Psy collaboration? A lot of musicians have jumped on the "Gangnam" bandwagon and have said they'd like to work with Psy. In October of 2013, Psy revealed in an interview with Italian Vogue that he recorded a song with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. Could Novermber 11 be the day the world finally hears it?

Why Not:

Because Psy is so well known around the world, and because he gets double-duty promotions thanks to the help of his US manager Scooter Braun, he kind of does his own thing when it comes to promotions. If Psy were planning a comeback, especially one of this magnitude (album or high-profile collab), we'd already have heard about it.

Option 2: Pink Punk

YG's new girl group (usually referred to as Pink Punk, although the name has yet to be confirmed) has been ready for debut for almost two years and fans are getting anxious. Last week it was revealed that Big Bang leader G-Dragon has been working alongside the members to produce two of their tracks and that the recording process is underway.

YG CEO Yang Hyun Suk also said he planned to unveil the group in November.

1 + 1?

A double single? Perhaps instead of pushing forward the whole debut album, the group will debut with two singles.

Why Not:

Earlier this month the record label announced that there had been a lineup change with one of the expected members, Kim Eunbi, departing the company for health reasons. Yang Hyun Suk said that while their debut had been planned for November, he couldn't say for certain it wouldn't be pushed back to December.

Option 3: Bobby and B.I

Bobby and B.I are two of the confirmed members for YG's new boy group iKON and have already been extremely busy. After gaining attention by competing on hip-hop survival show Show Me the Money 3 (which Bobby won), the pair are now helping the company make a decision as to who will join them in the new group through another reality series MIX & MATCH.

Last week Yang Hyun Suk said that following the finale of MIX & MATCH, iKON would head directly to the recording studio with the plan of releasing their first single in January and a series of follow-up tracks throughout 2015. He also mentioned that B.I was hard at work writing new material for the group.

Having the two rappers release some of their own material first would definitely help boost hype for iKON's debut. They also recently featured on Epik High's comeback track "Born Hater."

1 + 1?

Duh, Bobby + B.I

Why Not:

There is already a lot going on within the company and fans feel that some of the more established groups are getting the shaft. With iKON's debut already set for 2015, do they really need to push it this early?

Option 4: Any number of YG artist collabs

YG Entertainment is working with some of the biggest names in Korean music and they have their pick of talented artists to put together for collaborations that would undoubtedly be successful.

How about Lee Hi? We haven't heard from her in a while. Could she be partnering up with one of the label's rappers to release a duet along the same lines as Soyou and Junggigo? G-Dragon is prolific, maybe he wrote a new song? Who wouldn't want to hear a collab with Taeyang and TOP?

1 + 1?

The possibilities are endless.

Why Not:

Indeed, why not?
