JYJ Members Cry While Performing TVXQ Song In Japan

JYJ's three members were in tears recently while performing a song they used to perform as members of TVXQ.

On November 18, during a performance at Japan's Tokyo Dome, JYJ surprised fans and performed "Begin," one of TVXQ's most popular songs. As JYJ performed the song, the group members and fans were visibly crying.

"Begin" was one of TVXQ's most popular songs before the group split in 2009. This is the first time that JYJ has publicly performed an entire TVXQ song during a concert.

Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu, left TVXQ in 2009 following a contract dispute with record label SM Entertainment.  C-JeS Entertainment, the company that now manages the trio, was created to suit the needs of the singers, who soon after made their debut as JYJ. In April of 2010, the new group released their debut album, a Japanese EP titled The..., before dropping their first full length album, The Beginning, in October of that year.

TVXQ continued on with the remaining two members, Yunho and Changmin, who made their first comeback as a duo in 2011.

"Begin" was the final performance of the night, a spontaneous encore after the concert had officially ended. Fans had reportedly begun to leave the venue when the stage lights turned back on and Jaejoong, Yoochun, and Junsu began to sing the opening line of "Begin." During the performance, the three members were said to be very emotional, and videos uploaded by fans show them looking pensive.

Regarding the performance, Jaejoong tweeted in Japanese, "Don't cry...Don't cry... We thought to keep [the crying] amongst us 3 members. It was difficult, but we thought letting you hear a good song was the most important thing. We'll work hard and passionately tomorrow. More than ever, let's play passionately!"

Prior to the split, TVXQ was one of the most popular acts in Asia, and was a groundbreaking Korean act to break into the Japanese market. All five singers have been popular since the split, as both singers and actors.

The members of TVXQ and JYJ have not met up publicly since their split in 2009. The five will be attending the upcoming premiere for the film, Big Match, the first public event that they will all attend in five years.
