American Dancer Brian Puspos Calls Out YG Entertainment For Using His Choreography But Not Hiring Him Directly

YG Entertainment's new boy group iKON is gaining attention for their dance moves, even before they make their official debut.

American choreographer Brian Puspos has been discussing the group's use of his dance routines on Twitter, and getting a big response from K-Pop fans around the world.

Puspos's choreography was used by YG Entertainment in the recently aired reality competition show MIX & MATCH, during which the company was attempting to narrow down their impressive roster of trainees to form the new group, iKON.

While the Korean record label gave full credit to Puspos for his dance moves, it would appear the choreographer wanted a little more.

In a tweet Puspos sent out on November 17 he jokingly scolded YG for "cutting corners" in not hiring him to create original choreography. "My choreo being used once again by the iKON boys. Hey YG, hire the choreographer next time. Stop cutting corners," he wrote, including a smiley face emoticon and a link to a clip of the show MIX & MATCH from November 8 featuring the idols using his dance moves.

Apparently mistaking the playful tweet for one posted in anger, a fan (@DORKaTabii) replied back, "relax boy, they even credit you."

Puspos responded, "does that make it okay or something? Maybe that's why they lost too. Didn't it learn it right," before deleting his original post and comments.

A short while later, Puspos was back at it to clarify the matter. Tweeting to iKON's official account, he said, "miss you guys. Y'all killed it! Proud. Ps. You have crazy fans that misread things."

While the situation has since been cleared up, it would appear, as many other netizens have pointed out, that Puspos meant he would have preferred if YG Entertainment had hired him to teach his routines directly, rather than just crediting him for the moves.

The November 8 episode of MIX & MATCH was not the first time Puspos's choreography was used on the program. An earlier episode also credited his moves and a clip of the show was proudly shared by Puspos himself via Twitter on November 2. "Pretty cool that my choreography was used for a K pop show. My boys killed it," he wrote sharing a YouTube clip and connecting to YG and iKON's official Twitter accounts.

His talents have also been used by SM Entertainment in the past who called on him to help choreograph SHINee's Japanese single "Downtown Baby" and most recently Zhoumi's "Rewind."
