Seoul Police Reportedly Still Pursuing Person Responsible For Spreading Rumors About Lovelyz Member Seo Jisoo

Seoul police are reportedly still searching for the person responsible for instigating malicious rumors about Lovelyz member Seo Jisoo online after questioning one suspect.

Even before the debut of Woollim Entertainment's newest girl band, Lovelyz, the group was making headlines. Earlier this month, accusations that one of the group members, 20-year-old Seo Jisoo, was involved in sexual misconduct began to spread through social media platforms including Twitter and the messaging app KakaoTalk.

On November 9, the issue was brought to the attention of Jisoo's agency who released a statement saying they would be launching a police investigation into the matter. The following day, Seoul Mapo police department is said to have begun their investigation.

Just over a week later, on November 18, the police department released another statement revealing that the cyber investigation team has located one person thought to have started the rumors. "We have identified the person who appears to have been the originator of the rumors," a Seoul police official said, according to Asia Economy. "We will summon the person and confirm their identity."

The latest reports, however, indicate that individual was not the one responsible for first spreading the rumors. "The person we questioned was not the writer of the first rumor," said an official from the cyber crime lab at Seoul's Mapo police station, as reported by Korean media outlet Newsen. "We are still looking for the first person."

Meanwhile, Lovelyz made their debut with the album Girls Invasion and have been making an impact on music charts not just in South Korea, but Japan and Taiwan as well.

Seo Jisoo has yet to appear alongside her groupmates during promotional events for the album including the group's debut showcase on November 11 or their appearances on Korean music shows. The singer was recently released from the hospital where she was reportedly being treated for stress and shock brought on by the spread of the rumors.

Another Lovelyz member, Jin (real name Park Myeong Eun), was hospitalized on November 21 after experiencing stomach pains during a performance on KBS's Music Bank.
