YG Denies G-Dragon-Justin Bieber Collaboration, Reports Rapper Is Focusing On New Big Bang Album

Fans will not see a G-Dragon and Justin Bieber collaboration anytime soon.

On January 27, YG Entertainment denied continuous rumors and said that a long-awaited Justin Bieber collaboration with K-pop star G-Dragon is no longer planned. YG Entertainment emphasized that rather than focusing on solo songs, G-Dragon is currently focused on Big Bang's upcoming album.

In 2013, there were reports of an upcoming collaboration between K-pop star G-Dragon and global star Justin Bieber. However, despite a successful collaboration with Missy Elliot, G-Dragon's collaboration song with Justin Bieber was never released. Korea's Star News now reports that YG Entertainment has stated that there were discussions in the past about a collaboration, but that that is now history.

“A joint project between G-Dragon and Justin Bieber was discussed in the past, but they will not be working on a joint project," a high-ranking official at the record label is reported to have said.

After releasing multiple successful solo songs, G-Dragon is now back to work with the other four members of Big Bang, preparing a new album. The album is planned to be released in the summer.

“G-Dragon is completely focused on the new album that is set to come out this year,” the YG official told Star News.

This will be Big Bang's first Korean album since the release of Alive in 2012. Since then, the popular Korean quintet has underwent several concert tours while members partook in solo activities, including solo releases and collaborations by members of the group.

Big Bang debuted in 2006, and became one of South Korea's most popular idol groups. The five member group, including leader G-Dragon, T.O.P, Seungri, Daesung, and Taeyang, have released hit songs including "Lies," "Haru Haru," and "Fantastic Baby."

The group members promised their fans numerous times in both 2014 and 2015 that Big Bang will be making a comeback in 2015. YG Entertainment's statement about a summer release is one of the first confirmations of a timeline for the Big Bang comeback album.

Justin Bieber has a history of performing in South Korea, and has a tattoo of a traditional Korean mask with his last name written in Korean script.
