Crayon Pop's Sister Group Bob Girls Disbands Due To Member's Illness

Due to a member's health issues, Chrome Entertainment announced that Bob Girls has disbanded.

Less than a year since debuting, K-pop quartet Bob Girls has disbanded. The group, promoted as the little sister group to K-pop sensation Crayon Pop, debuted in June 2014 but has since disbanded due to member Jina's illness.

On February 24, Star News reported that Chrome Entertainment disbanded Jina, Dahye, Yujeong, and Danbi's contracts after Jina was diagnosed with encephalitis. In order to undergo treatment, Jina's contract was terminated, and it was decided that Bob Girls would not continue with the remaining members.

Bob Girls was only active for eight months prior to disbanding.

Jina's condition is not life threatening, but it will take time for the singer to undergo treatment and recover. She was diagnosed with encephalitis. The disease will not affect her daily life, but it made promoting as a singer difficult.

The other members and Chrome Entertainment determined that it would be cruel to promote as Bob Girls without Jina, and so terminated the contracts for the other three to pursue alternate activities.

Encephalitis is inflammation of the brain, usually caused by viral infections, according to the Mayo Clinic. Encephalitis generally has similar to the flu, such as fever and headache, but can also lead to seizures, confusion, and problems moving. Although encephalitis is usually not life threatening, it requires treatment and rest in order not to get worse. The illness is related to meningitis, which can be life threatening.

Even though Jina is ill, she has kept her Instagram account active to show fans that she is still enjoying her life.

Bob Girls released two singles, "No Way" and "Oh My Boy" before disbanding. The group also appeared in Chrome Family's 2014 collaborative single, "Love Christmas," along with Crayon Pop, K-Much, and Zan Zan.
