Ga In's 'Paradise Lost' At The Center Of 2 Choreography Debates

Ga In's choreography for her comeback song "Paradise Lost" has been under scrutiny amid charges that it was "stolen" and can be called "porn" for its provocative moves.

The first allegation stems from choreographer Monica Wilson which suggested that "Paradise Lost" contained stolen moves from Wilson.

Wilson presented her arguments by uploading a YouTube video on March 13 titled "MV Ga In steals Xoticy Brand moves in Paradise Lost Music Video," reports Koreaboo.

Wilson began with a charge that "international artists steal choreographer's brand for music video" before flashing clips of her dancing and sliding on the floor then contrasting it with the "Paradise Lost" choreography. Wilson ends her allegation video with a call to "Respect choreographers, Respect creativity. Respect the process. #StopStealing."

Although there were similarities, YouTube user natasha275 defended the youngest member of Brown Eyed Girls: "I'm always down to support those who have their work stolen but you (or whoever) edited various "(I catch two) videos of you dancing similar moves and then claiming that Ga In stole your dance moves. Especially since those moves are very generic and odds are you didn't create them yourself either."

As did YouTube user xbeautifulxliex123: "As a dancer myself, I have taken many a dance class and all of these moves are basics taught during floor work. You cannot claim ownership of a single dance move. If that were the case, most of the genres currently taught would cease to exist because we all share the same basics as dancers. If this were a case in which Ga In had used large portions of choreography without credit, then I would understand."

Notwithstanding the choreography theft charge, Ga In's "Paradise Lost" dance has also been criticized for its overly sexual moves with netizens calling the original choreography as "porn", reports Koreaboo.

The provocative "Paradise Lost" choreography has since been toned down to suit the standards of South Korean broadcasting stations, and this tamer choreography version has been performed in Music Bank.
