K-Pop-Inspired Nickelodeon Show 'Make It Pop' Gives Preview With Music Video For 'Party Tonight' Featuring Megan Lee Amid Lawsuit With Her Former Label

"Make it Pop," Nick Cannon's upcoming project with Nickelodeon, is gaining momentum with the release of a preview video for the show's song, "Party Tonight." The video features the three main characters, high school freshmens Jodi, Corki and Sun Hi, played by fromer YouTube personality Megan Lee. Boasting a catchy chorus and fun, colorful set, the video is befitting of a young girl's vision of pop superstardom.

Although the concept is a twist on a common theme in American television musical series, such as "Glee" or Disney Channel's "Shake It Up," an active attempt is being made to gain the interest of K-pop fans. This fact, likewise, has not been lost on Soulshop Entertainment (stylized Souls#op), Megan Lee's former music label. This past November, Lee went through contract nullification with the entertainment company, breaking her agreement to commit five years with the agency. A formal statement was released after the lawsuit was filed, allegedly addressing her private dealings made with her U.S. agency.

Soulshop Entertainment, founded by Kim Tae Woo of g.o.d., reportedly filed a lawsuit on March 16th against Megan Lee to prevent her from celebrity promotional activity. A recent press release states, "Despite the fact that the court's decision for the lawsuit Megan Lee had filed against Soul Shop has not been determined, she made headlines with her promotions in America via Facebook on February 28 as if the court had come to a decision."

The press release goes on to say, "Megan Lee released groundless and malicious press as well as speculative rumors, victimizing herself through noise marketing and releases of false statements. Through all this, she brought psychological distress to Kim Tae Woo's family and brought down the company's image."
