CL And Diplo Collaboration Single 'Doctor Pepper' To Drop Friday

Sometime last year it was announced that 2NE1's front woman CL would take the U.S. by storm.

Real YG fans knew however that there would be no telling on when that U.S. debut would occur.

Nevertheless, CL announced today on her personal Twitter that her collaboration track with Diplo entitled "Doctor Pepper" will be released this Friday, May 22. "Doctor Pepper" will also include American rap artists Riff Raff and OG Maco.

It's not certain what CL's U.S. debut will include, but YG Entertainment's Yang Hyun Suk did issue a cautionary statement on the subject matter earlier this year.

"It's not [necessarily] going well, but Psy's American manager, Scooter Braun, is attached to her and is diligently helping out.  It looks like the possibility is big once proper promotions are under way," explained Yang (via Allkpop).

"CL might or might not do well in America, but there is potential, so we're trying to do our best."

It would seem that CL's continued presence among some big name stars like Diplo and Riff Raff would certainly increase her chances of making a successful solo debut. Not to mention, CL has scheduled several appearances over the next few months, including a performance at famous outdoor New York summer event, the Mad Decent Bloc Party.

CL might be facing a very tough U.S. crowd in the upcoming months, but given her continued strength as one of the most influential idols in K-pop, she'll likely still manage to do well.

If not, CL will certainly have plenty of fans who loved her prior to her U.S. debut that will welcome her with open arms.
