G-Dragon's Song Composition Claims Against SHINee Called Into Question

After G-Dragon recent claims regarding EXO and SHINee, some K-pop fans have pointed out a factual error on his part.

On Thursday, the Big Bang rapper appeared in JTBC's "Newsroom" for an interview with Son Suk Hee. When asked about what sets Big Bang apart from competitors like SHINee and EXO, G-Dragon provided a bold response.

"What sets us apart is what we make our own songs, which appeals to the public," said G-Dragon according to allkpop.

Many K-pop fans have taken G-Dragon statement to imply that neither EXO nor members of SHINee create their own songs. However, SHINee fans have pointed several songwriting credits by members of the SM Entertaiment group for either their group release or their solo activities.

As noted by various Twitter users, Jonghyun reportedly wrote the lyrics for all the songs on his solo album "Base," released January of this year. In addition, SHINee member Minho has been credited to have written or co-written several rap parts in SHINee's albums, including the tracks "replay," "Juliette" and "Up & Down."

During the interview, G-Dragon went on to explain the importance of creating self-produced music for Big Bang.

"Creating [the songs] must be important," continued 26-year-old. "It can't not be important. If I were to receive a song from a composer and sing it, I'd personally have no confidence. I don't know how it might be for other people, but since I was young, I relayed the songs I had made, so I would hesitate more than other artists if I were to relay [songs made by other people]."

But G-Dragon is not the only outspoken Big Bang member.

On Wednesday, Big Bang's T.O.P uploaded a photo on Instagram with a caption warning commenters not to fight with each other.

"You guys don't fight on my Instagram" wrote T.O.P.
