YG Entertainment Celebrates G-Dragon's Birthday

Happy birthday, GD!

G-Dragon (Kwon Ji Yong,) arguably the most popular Korean pop star in the world today, celebrated his 27th birthday on August 18. The Big Bang leader and soloist was born in 1988, and debuted as a child star at the age of five.

YG Entertainment, Big Bang's record label, shared a picture of the star on its official social media accounts to celebrate the milestone.

"Happy Birthday 88/08/18 G-Dragon From YG," reads the poster.

The picture of G-Dragon is a promotional still from Big Bang's recent "MADE" album project series.

G-Dragon debuted as the leader and rapper of Big Bang in 2006, and began his career as a soloist with "Heartbreaker" in 2009. Since then, Big Bang and G-Dragon have become some of the most sought after South Korean musical acts around the globe.

G-Dragon's unique sense of style has also made him an arbiter of fashion, and he was spotted at Paris Fashion Week earlier this year. His identity as a pop icon came together to create the art exhibit, "Peaceminusone," fusing G-Dragon's image as an artist and musician.

The "Peaceminusone" exhibit held a special event on August 18 to celebrate G-Dragon's birthday.

YG Entertainment releases pictures of many of its top stars to celebrate their birthdays throughout the year.

Fans commented on the image shared on YG Entertainment's official Facebook page.

"Happy, happy birthday, G-Dragon," wrote Cherry Blossoms Encinas. "You and Big Bang are really, really awesome! Please take good care of yourself. Again, happy birthday!"

Fans left comment in numerous languages, including English, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, and more.

G-Dragon is currently promoting "MADE." Big Bang released "Zutter" and "Let's Not Fall In Love," singles off of "E" from the "MADE" project series, on August 5. "Zutter" features the Big Bang subunit made up of only G-Dragon and T.O.P.
