EXO's Lay Hints At Big Surprise With Clip Of Himself Playing Self-Composed Song

One member of EXO is happy to show off his musical talent on the keys.

Lay, a member of K-pop boy band EXO, shared a short video on his official Weibo account on September 1. The video featured the K-pop idol playing the piano, and implied that he will be sharing news with his fans in the near future.

It was revealed through the post that Lay was playing part of a self-composed piece.

"Dear everyone, it has been hard on you guys recently!" wrote Lay on Weibo. "Thank you. You guys have started school and I'm back to work. It's getting closer to the date of my surprise..."

In April, SM Entertainment established a new company to promote Lay in China. It is unknown if the surprise relates to a new release brought about by the endeavor.

Lay previously gained recognition for his musical talents outside of just singing when he composed EXO's song "Promise (EXO 2014)," which was released in June on the group's repackage of their "EXODUS" album.

He has also performed his self-composed track "I'm Lay" during several EXO concerts.

In 2014, the Chinese composer Wei Jen Yuan complimented Lay's composing talent.

Lay is one of nine members of EXO currently active, and the only remaining one of four Chinese members to have originally debuted with the group. Three other Chinese members of EXO left the group in 2014 and 2015, after filing lawsuits against SM Entertainment and pursing solo careers in China.

EXO last made a comeback in June, with the song "Love Me Right."
