Kevin Durant Free Agency News: Former MVP 'Likely' To Sign With New York Knicks?

Even before the 2015-2016 NBA season begins, teams are already expressing their interest on signing former MVP Kevin Durant to their respective teams once the 2016 NBA Free Agency period hits.

Although Kevin Durant is not making any decisions or confirmations that he will stay or switch teams in a year, his friends, like Carmelo Anthony are already expressing their desire to play alongside the lethal scorer.

According to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, there's a huge chance that Durant might sign with the Knicks.

"I know for a fact that Carmelo Anthony has been and will continue to recruit Kevin Durant until the cows come home," Smith said via Bleacher Report. "I'm also hearing that Kevin Durant is giving the New York Knicks consideration."

But before that happens, it looks like the Knicks have to prove first that they have to win before landing him. According to his friend, Damion James, Durant's first criteria is that should he sign elsewhere, the team should be a winner.

"The one thing I know about my brother is he wants to win," said Damion James via Washington Post. "He'll do whatever it takes to win. Whoever gives him the best chance to win is where he's going to end up."

But of course, not all will be pleased with his decision and some would prefer him to stay with OKC.

"I hope he stays in OKC," Charles Barkley told Comcast SportsNet Washington. "I would love because he's a terrific player and a terrific kid, I would love to see him stay in OKC his entire career."

Nevertheless, the analyst would be fine wherever the former MVP signs.

"But you know, man, these guys do what they want to do," Barkley added. "I wish them all the best, but for some reason they all want to play in big cities like you're going to be more famous winning in a certain city. If you win a championship in Cleveland, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, you're going to be just as big."
