DAY6 Vs. GOT7: What JYP Entertainment's 2 Newest Boy Bands Bring To The Table [POLL]

With K-pop idol groups debuting like wildfire, sometimes rivalries get out of hand.

It has been less than two years since the debut of the K-pop boy band GOT7, and JYP Entertainment just debuted a new idol group, DAY6. But have no worry, GOT7 fans. There's no reason to worry about a rivalry between the two label mates. There is plenty of love to go around.

With completely different attitudes and musical styles, GOT7 and DAY6 each have something to offer K-pop fans.

GOT7

With seven members and a bright, uplifting attitude, GOT7 debuted in Jan. 2014. Less than two years later, the group has released seven combined Korean and Japanese singles and traveled all over the world. The group's songs offer vintage, upbeat sounds that are typically paired with positive messages, such as telling listeners that they are "Just Right" regardless of what media says about appearances.

As the follow-up to JYP's 2PM, GOT7 puts an emphasis on dance and acrobatics, and are clearly a performance-based idol group. The colorful palates of their music videos, usually paired with the members' goofing off, makes GOT7's job clear: They're JYP's attempt at brightening up the K-pop scene.

DAY6

In comparison, DAY6 just debuted on Sunday with "Congratulations." Despite the title, "Congratulations" is the darker, more mature turn-around from JYP, acting as the antithesis of GOT7's happy-go-lucky songs. With all the members singing and playing instruments, and foregoing dancing, DAY6 is more rock than pop while still staying safely in the K-pop genre.

With an idol band concept and six members, DAY6 is not the typical K-pop dance group, and JYP's first group to debut as a band (Wonder Girls recently made a comeback with a band concept.)

Following in the footsteps of previous idol bands like FTISLAND and CNBLUE, DAY6's debut song is a heart-wrenching, bombastic, song that certainly sets the tone for the group. The message of "Congratulations" is the total opposite from the title; the lyrics describe someone who sees their lover happily on a date with someone else after being told "let's take a break." While GOT7 is all about being happy, DAY6 is more angst-filled and earnest.

With all the members singing and playing instruments, DAY6 is more rock than pop while still staying safely in the K-pop genre.

Which group do you like better? GOT7 or DAY6?
