New York Rangers Left Wing Chris Kreider Links DIA's Dream Concert Performance In Twitter Profile

One New York athlete is a fan of a new K-pop girl group, or at least one of their stage outfits.

New York Rangers player Chris Kreider shared video of K-pop girl group DIA, which featured several of the members wearing his hockey jersey during a performance. The members of DIA wore Rangers' jersey at the Gyeongju Hallyu Dream Concert, gaining the hockey player's attention.

The link to the YouTube video that Kreider shared on Twitter showed DIA at their Sept. 20 performance of their debut song "Somehow," with several members visibly donning #20 Kreider jerseys.

Following Kreider sharing the link, DIA's official Facebook page shared a screen capture of Greider's official Twitter.

During the Dream Concert performance, six members of DIA wore Greider's jersey, while one member wore Rick Nash's #61 jersey.

Comments on the YouTube video showed Rangers fans confused as to why DIA chose to wear Rangers jerseys for their performance.

Blue Shirt Banter, a blog devoted to the New York Rangers, gave an explanation for why DIA wore the team's jerseys.

"Kpop places a high importance on fashion," wrote blogger arii. "And because the Rangers jerseys are some of the best out there (and really, really eye-catching), they're perfect for a K-pop group to want to wear."

DIA is one of numerous K-pop acts to promote in sports jerseys. Earlier this year, EXO wore a medley of American sports uniforms while promoting the song, "Call Me Baby."

Seven-member rookie group DIA debuted on Sept. 14 with their album "Do It Amazing" and is managed by MBK Entertainment. DIA is short for "diamond," and an acronym for "do it amazing."
