Future Of KARA Up In The Air As Members' Contracts On Verge Of Expiration

DSP Media recently commented on the future of KARA as several members' contracts are on the verge of expiration.

Three members of KARA is set to expire this October, but DSP Media issued a statement regarding the issue. Goo Hara, Han Seungyeon, and Park Gyuri resigned two year contracts with DSP in October 2013 but have yet to renew them, leaving the future of the group up in the air once again.

The members and the agency are planning to have a meeting, DSP Media told Korean media outlets.

"There re-signing hasn't been decided yet," said DSP Media on Oct. 6.

The fourth and youngest member of KARA, Heo Youngji, joined KARA in 2014 and the terms of her contract were not publicized.

KARA has seen numerous line up changes since the group debut as a quartet in 2014.

Park and Han are the only two remaining members of the group; Kim Sung Hee left KARA in 2008 while the fourth original member, Nicole Jung, left in 2008.

Another member, Kang Ji Young, joined KARA following Kim's departure in 2008 and left the group in 2014.

Youngji competed with DSP Media trainees on the television competition show "KARA Project" in 2014 to gain a role in the K-pop girl group.

KARA rose to fame in the late 2000's and became one of Korea's representative girl groups with success in both Korea and Japan from songs like "Honey," "Wanna," and, most notably, "Mister."

Since the three members renewed their contracts in 2013 with DSP Media, the group released two EPs, 2014's "Day & Night" and 2015's "In Love."
