Psy the Genius, 'Mastermind at its Finest'

On April 13, Psy's performance of his new release, "Gentleman," was revealed at his solo concert in Seoul, Korea. Instantly, concerns over the repetitiveness of "Gentleman" were vanished. Psy knew exactly what the world wanted to see and he showed it to the world. Psy the mastermind at his finest.

Just like there was no real 'Gangnam Style'-fashionable, trendy looks-in the song "Gangnam Style," there is no gentleman present in "Gentleman." The song is largely a satire of the today's society with its facades and superficialities. Like the provocative lyrics, the music video contains quite a bit of sexual contents, albeit more comical than serious and steamy.

"My job is to help people laugh and have fun. I put a lot of thought into this. I decided that it would be best to do what I do best by keeping it funny, dirty, undignified," Psy commented about the inspiration behind "Gentleman.

YouTube's live broadcast of Psy's concert was his time to showcase that he is no one-hit wonder. Performing his previous hit songs, "Bird," "Celebrity," "Paradise" and many others, Psy seemed to re-introduce himself to the viewers as a long-time artist.

Psy was least bit afraid of controversy and conflict. If anything, he invited and welcomed it. Putting up a picture of Maria (known as Mary in English), mother of Jesus Christ, during his pun-intended line and using "mother father gentleman" as a comic relief, Psy was ready to make everything fun and funny at the expense of possible adversities.

In the music video, Psy displayed a number of famous Korean landscapes and tour spots, as well as famous celebrities. It is a noble attempt to promote Korea and its culture while his voice is most clearly heard and his actions are widely seen.
