Psy's Smoking Habit Becomes Topic Of Media Interest

Press photographers love to catch public figures and celebrities doing things they should not be doing, and while smoking a cigarette is not illegal, when Psy does it, it becomes news.

On a recent trip to Washington DC to attend the White House Correspondents' Dinner, Psy stepped away from a pre-party on April 27 to enjoy a nicotine break. He was surrounded by four handlers who told the nearby press that they were not allowed to photograph the Korean singer while he smoked and that he would not be answering any questions as he had previously done so on the red carpet.

"I'm so sorry, he just wants to smoke a cigarette with no one taking pictures," one handler told the swarm of press photographers as another member of Psy's security entourage attempted to thwart any picture-taking attempts.

Another bit of smoking information that was released was that in order to attend the White House event, Psy requested a smoking hotel room for his stay in DC.

Washingtonian editor, Carol Joynt, wrote on her personal website about the arrangements saying, "All he asked was for a hotel room where he could smoke cigarettes. Done and done."

Last year during his "Gangnam Style" promotional tour of North America, Psy's smoking habit also made headlines.

He was caught by paparazzi smoking in and restricted area directly in front of a 'No Smoking' sign outside a Toronto theater.

As Psy now continues to make appearances around the US (and later the rest of the world) to promote "Gentleman," we will probably begin seeing more news about his nasty habit.
