Psy Opens Up About The Success Of 'Gentleman': 'I'm An A—hole'

The second world-famous single from Korean rapper, Psy, is a smash hit and he credits his ironically bad behavior for the video's popularity.

"Gentleman" has been out for a couple weeks now and not only has it blown up YouTube with millions of views, but has proved that Psy continues to be an international force to be reckoned with - even if he is kind of an a--hole.

In an interview with MTV News, Psy opened up about the "Gentleman" video and discussed why he thinks it is so popular.

"Yeah, in that video, I'm an a--hole. Excuse my language, but I cannot say anything else, I'm an a--hole. But he keeps saying 'I'm a gentleman!'"

He continued to explain the reasoning behind the video's theme. "When I am composing a song and making a video, I really love that kind of twist," Psy explained. "If I make a video where I keep saying 'I'm a gentleman,' and you know, I'm being [polite], that's not going to be fun. I want a twist."

Psy goes on to admit that perhaps the "Gentleman" video goes a little too far at points, citing the farting scene where he "cupcakes" (farts into his cupped hand and throws it in the face of an unsuspecting female) as "nasty."

But that is just the point. Just like with "Gangnam Style," Psy not only has created another catchy song, but a video that starts a conversation. "Gentleman" is hard to avoid, and the world is definitely tuning in, to the tune of 250 million YouTube views and counting.
