Psy Gets His Own Comic Book: 'Fame:Psy' Traces The Assent Of K-Pop's Number One 'Gentleman' [PHOTOS]

It's a bird? It's a plane? It's a...horse?

Psy continues to reign supreme as K-pop's biggest superstar and now the "Gentleman" rapper gets a shot at becoming its first superhero, appearing in a comic book released Wednesday in the U.S. and South Korea, Reuters reports.

In "Fame:Psy," the trials and tribulations of the South Korean "Gentleman" on the path to international stardom are immortalized in full comic book glory.

"Has he fallen from the sky?" ask the opening lines of the "Fame:Psy" comic. "Has he risen from the earth?"

Dressed in the now iconic black spangled suit he wore in the "Gangnam Style" video, Psy is drawn flying through the sky or bursting through the asphalt, all while doing his famous "Horse Riding Dance."

"Gangnam Style," the most-watched Internet video in history, with over 1.5 billion views, is reportedly at the center of Psy's superhero story.

"It was the end of summer, 2012, when a little-known Asian rapper put his music video on YouTube," read the captions of the "Fame:Psy" comic. "It exploded in popularity."

"His stubby build and dynamic stage presence caught people's eyes," the comic continues. "Psy's not your typical pop star."

The 26-page comic book was a joint offering from U.S. publisher Bluewater Productions and South Korean company "able."

But it isn't all hero (or as the case may be, superhero) worship in "Fame:Psy"

The comic book also deals with the 2002 marijuana possession conviction that caused Psy to miss his grandfather's funeral.

""I smoked something that my country strictly prohibits," Psy told Star Magazine back in October. "I didn't realize I was doing something wrong until I got arrested. To tell you the truth, I was 25 years old back then, and I was scared as hell."

When Psy's parents visited him in the South Korean prison where he was being held for the drug charge in 2001, they refused to bail him out.

"My mother said, 'I knew you were going to cause trouble,'" Psy recalled. "My father shook my hand and said, 'Take this opportunity to quit smoking cigarettes.' Then he left too."

Although Psy was let off the hook for the possession charge after paying a fine in January of 2002, his grandfather succumbed to his battle with cancer while South Korean authorities detained the future K-pop star.

"I was very close to him," Psy said about his grandfather. "I was not there at the funeral... I will regret this for the rest of my life. My grandpa loved me so much and I couldn't be there for him when he was on his deathbed."
